Council Committees

The Osseo City Council has five members.  Two members are named to the following committees each year.

Arts Committee

The Arts Committee 2012 includes members Allan Hartkopf and Al Lindquist.

The purpose of this Committee:

  • Promote creativity and the development of artistic works
  • Promote the display of arts in public spaces
  • Sponsor fine arts events in the community
  • Encourage young people to express their artistic style
  • Recognize local seniors who have contributed to the arts

Budget & Finance Committee

The Budget & Finance Committee 2012 includes members Duane Poppe & Rick Weber.

The purpose of this Committee:

  • Financial Management Plan & Policies
  • Capital Spending Plans
  • Investment Policies & Oversight
  • Internal Control & Audits
  • Grants Coordination
  • Annual Budget preparation

Human Resources Committee

The Council Human Resources Committee 2012 includes members Al Lindquist and Mark Schulz.

The purpose of this Committee:

  • Human Resource Policies
  • Recruitment and interview process
  • Organizational quality and effectiveness/Job and employee evaluations
  • Federal & State employee safety
  • Compensation reporting/Pay equity review

Intergovernmental Relations Committee

The Intergovernmental Relations Committee 2012 includes members Allan Hartkopf and Duane Poppe.

The purpose of this Committee:

  • Communications with the Osseo School Board
  • Communications with neighboring cities
  • Contact with State representatives
  • Contact with Hennepin County officials
  • Contact with Watershed Districts
  • Communication with Metropolitan Council representative
  • Proposed legislation of other bodies and agencies

Public Safety Advisory Committee

The Public Safety Advisory Committee 2012 includes members Al Lindquist and Rick Weber.

The purpose of this Committee:

  • Discuss policy and make decisions regarding public safety
  • Includes two business appointees, two citizen appointees, two Council appointees, the Fire Chief and Police Chief

Risk Management Committee

The Risk Management Committee 2012 includes members Allan Hartkopf and Mark Schulz.

The purpose of this Committee:

  • Land, buildings, facilities & equipment inventory
  • Loss coverage by self and others
  • Employee safety
  • Citizen safety and security
