Alarm Responses

The Osseo Police Department encourages both home owners and business owners, who have an alarm system, to use it carefully and help reduce false alarms by obtaining regular maintenance checks of their systems twice a year. False alarms are very costly to our community both to the owner of the system and to the Osseo Police and Fire Department's, whose resources are directed in the response to such alarms.

Alarm System Definition

An alarm system is defined as any mechanical or electrical alarm installation designed to be used for the prevention or detection of criminal, medical or fire conditions. This does not include motor vehicles.

False Alarms

These usually occur when the alarm system has been activated by mechanical failure, alarm malfunction, improper installation or operator error. False alarms caused by thunderstorms, utility line mishaps or other conditions beyond the control of the owner, installer, or manufacturer are not included.
