Religious discipline o observance of religious holiday
Eligible emergency declared by the governor or quarantine declared by the federal or state government

Military and overseas voters can also vote by absentee ballot.  Absentee voting begins Sept. 17 for the General Election and closed Nov. 1.  For more information, click here.

Check Voter Registration Status

Secretary of State Mark Ritchie said Minnesotans have the opportunity to check whether they are registered to vote this fall. Voters simply enter their name, birthday, and address and the service will quickly tell voters whether they are registered at that address. If they are not, the service will provide links to information on how and where to register. The service will also provide voters the date of their next election and the location of their polling place if they are registered to vote.
